GENISUS
Soul Sanctuary and Spoke Inward Creative Consulting have teamed up as executive producers of an exciting new broadcast venture -- GenIsUs: Revitalized Teen Talk!

This 30-minute program features teens from the Greater Philadelphia area as hosts and interviewers, tackling tough and entertaining topics about the issues that matter to them most. The reason behind the name of the show is simple: these young people represent the next generation of critical thinkers and doers among us, and they are unafraid to be opinionated and ask difficult questions of the adults who are currently in positions of power.

So catch GenIsUs on Comcast Channel 80, airing Monday through Sunday at 3:30 pm (available throughout the five-county Greater Philadelphia area and parts of Delaware - check your local listings for the corresponding channel number in your area, if you live outside of the city). Hosted by Fatima Thomas, Jasmine Martin and Tymier Butler. The topic for the February/March episode is GENISUS: A LOOK BEHIND THE SCENES.

UNSUNG!

Fresh off of the heels of our successful debut documentary NO SUCH THING AS NEOSOUL, Soul Sanctuary was hard at work on capturing footage for our next film project...a detailed look through the eyes of celebs at the demands of producing meaningful soul music in an ever-morphing music industry titled UNSUNG.

We had an opportunity to sit and chat with outstanding talent like Lina, Lalah Hathaway, Rahsaan Patterson, Will Downing and Mint Condition. We shot live performances with Me'shell NdegeOcello, Eric Roberson, Goapele, Julie Dexter and Anthony David. We turned our cameras on at open mics and other live events to capture the true spirit of making music -- for the love and for a living.

Next in our UNSUNG series is a video diary from our trip to New Orleans in April 2006. People outside of the Gulf Coast region affected by Hurricane Katrina had no idea just how much damage still existed in that area nearly a year after the storm, so we decided to help tell those stories. Here we chat with Evelyn Batiste, an elder landlord who returned to the area in late 2005 to reclaim her house and rental properties. Hear a first-hand account of how hard it has been for some New Orleanians to come home, musicians or not.
