April 2 is our T-9 countdown day toward our 17th Anniversary. Today, we honor the path that led us to our highly successful Soul Sanctuary Radio podcast.

J. Michael Harrison, host of "The Bridge" on WRTI-FM, invited me to be a guest DJ for an hour during an anniversary broadcast for his show. I was nervous, but he said I had a knack for it and encouraged me to find a place where I could explore the idea of doing my own program. I reached out to WQHS, Penn's student station, which used to be housed in a funky little building on campus and they agreed to let me host Soul Sanctuary Radio as an alumna, beginning in the summer of 2004. And yes, back then, I used to haul stacks of CDs in a duffel bag into the studio for every 3-hour broadcast.

Today, we are inches away from our 4 MILLIONTH download of the Soul Sanctuary Radio podcast. Persistence and consistency can yield some beautiful things.
